Developmental Editing

You just finished your piece and breathed a sigh of relief. All your thoughts have made it onto the page   . . . or have they? You know what you wanted to say, but will your reader understand what you've said?

-All ideas fully developed
-Piece coherent and organized
-Clear tone, style, and format

Copy Editing

If you want "the works," it's time to call the grammar police. This type of editing covers it all.

WHAT'S PROVIDED

I'll check for the following:
-Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage
-Consistency throughout piece
-Accurate facts and citation

Proofreading

This is the final stage of polishing, to fine tune the overall appearance of your piece. 

WHAT'S PROVIDED

I'll check for the following:
-Typographical errors (e.g. misspellings and other typos)
-Mechanical errors (e.g. capitalization and punctuation)
-Formatting and typesetting consistency

How it works

1.  Submit Sample

After your initial contact, I will send you a follow-up email, asking you to provide several pages of your manuscript to determine what type of editing services would be most beneficial. I will provide a free sample edit upon request to demonstrate the level of editing your piece would receive.

2.  Sign Agreement

I will then send you an editorial agreement, indicating the terms of service, time frame, and cost. Once the agreement has been signed and partial payment received, I will begin the proposed editorial work. Your edited manuscript will be returned with comments and tracked changes through the Microsoft Word Track Changes feature.​

3.  Send Payment

 I charge by word because I am more concerned with quality than quantity. I will use all of the time and energy I have to perfect your piece. Approximately 50% of payment is due upon commencement. Remaining balance is payable by check within 15 days after receiving invoice.
